Year 6

First of all we want to welcome you all back after a well deserved half term break. We are so proud of how all of the children settled back into school last term and hope that this term will be the same! It is going to be a busy lead up to Christmas but we are certain that the children are ready for this challenge!

Attendance is vital for your child’s educations. If your child is away for one day, their learning is put on hold and they have more pressure to catch up. We understand that all children get ill and now more than ever, we’re all aware of being ill, however we’d encourage them to attend school whenever possible to ensure they reach their full potential and make the most out of their final year in primary school.

PE Information

To make you aware, our PE days have changed to a Thursday and Friday. Ensure that both indoor and outdoor kits are available for both days and please refer to the uniform policy to ensure the correct kit is worn.

Extended Learning

For extended learning, your child will be expected to complete weekly tasks:

  • Reading at home (at least 4 or more times)
  • TT Rockstars
  • Spellings via Spelling Shed
  • Extended Learning Grid (share work on year group Padlet or class email)
  • Year Group Bucket List (share activities on year group Padlet or class email)
  • A piece of Maths and Reading homework

Our Autumn term theme is based around the history topic of World War II – entitled “We’ll Meet Again”. The main focus will be on how this period of history affected the lives of children.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact any of the year 6 team.
