We hope you’ve had a lovely, well-earned half term break. We’re so proud of the children’s hard work and adaptability last term. This term we will be continuing our ‘Countdowns’ and the rewards associated with our ‘Countdown to Easter’. More information will follow about this treat nearer the end of term.
Attendance and punctuality is vital for your child’s education. If your child is away for one day, their learning is put on hold and they have more pressure to catch up. We understand that all children get ill and now more than ever, we’re all aware of being ill, however we’d encourage them to attend school whenever possible to ensure they reach their full potential and make the most out of their final year of primary school.
PE Information
To make you aware, our PE days have changed to a Thursday and Friday. Ensure that both indoor and outdoor kits are available for both days and please refer to the uniform policy to ensure the correct kit is worn.
Extended Learning
For extended learning, your child will be expected to complete weekly tasks:
- Reading at home at least 4 or more times (reading books and diaries should be in school every day)
- TT Rockstars
- Spellings practice via Spelling Shed (spelling tests are every week)
- Extended Learning Grid (share work on year group Padlet or class email)
- Year Group Bucket List (share activities on year group Padlet or class email)
- A piece of Maths and Reading homework in their homework books.
Theme
This term, we will continue to learn about what Baghdad was like during the early Islamic civilisation and what impact it had on modern day life. We had a good start last term and learnt a lot from our class book ‘The Golden Horesmen of Baghdad’. We’ll also be studying the physical features of South America and comparing it to the Uk.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact any of the year 6 team.
