Year 5

The Year 5 team welcome you all back after the Easter Holidays and hope you have had a relaxing break. We are so proud of how well everyone did last term and we are looking forward to a brilliant final term! We are going to have a very busy term full of experiments, practical activities and creations, with a focus on Brazil!

Attendance is vital for your child’s education. If you child is away for one day, their learning is put on hold and they have more pressure to catch up. We understand that all children get ill, and now more than ever, we’re all aware of being ill, however we’d encourage them to attend school whenever possible to ensure they reach their full potential and make the most out of their time in primary school.

PE Information

Year 5 will continue to have PE every Monday and Friday. Ensure that both indoor and outdoor kits are available for both days and please refer to the uniform policy to ensure the correct kit is worn. We have had a number of children bringing incorrect PE kit, so please ensure you are award of the uniform policy. Feel free to contact us with any concerns or questions if needed.

Extended Learning

For extended learning, your child will be expected to complete weekly tasks. These will be:

  • Reading at home at least 4 or more times (reading books and diaries should be in school every day)
  • TT Rockstars
  • Spelling practice via Spelling Shed (spelling tests are every Friday)
  • A piece of Grammar, Maths and Reading homework

Theme

Alongside our topic of Brazil, we are going to be learning all about the Normans this half term. This will include how they ended up in Britain and what their lives were like once they had settled here! We will also be learning about the Doomsday book and the Bayeux tapestry.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact any of the year 5 team.
