Year 5

The year 5 team welcome you all back after half term and hope you have had relaxing break. We are so proud of how all of the children settled back into the new normal last term and hope that this term will be the same! We are going to have a very busy term full of experiments, practical activities and creations.

Attendance is vital for your child’s education. If your child is away for one day, their learning is put on hold and they have more pressure to catch up. We understand that all children get ill and now more than ever, we’re all aware of being ill, however we’d encourage them to attend school whenever possible to ensure they reach their full potential and make the most out of their time in primary school.

PE Information

Year 5 will now have PE every Wednesday and Friday. Ensure that both indoor and outdoor kits are available for both days and please refer to the uniform policy to ensure the correct kit is worn.

Extended Learning

For extended learning, your child will be expected to complete weekly tasks. These will be:

  • Reading at home at least 4 or more times (reading books and diaries should be in school every day)
  • TT Rockstars
  • Spelling practice via Spelling Shed (spelling tests are every Friday)
  • A piece of Maths and Reading homework

Please remember that in order for the children to earn their weekly treat, they must have completed their homework. Homework is due each Friday.

Theme

Our Spring is going to be based around the topic of the Vikings. The main focus will be what Viking life was like, researching where they came from and who they were.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact any of the year 5 team.
